Description
This original painting is done on habotai silk by hand. While we lived in Ucluelet, we often visited the surfing beaches of Tofino to watch the surfers congregate to catch a wave. The painting has been prepared for hanging with loops to attach it to your choice of hanger. After the initial drawing (done with gutta), I use acrylic paints to complete the picture. This makes the painting light-resistant, so that it can be hung in a window, as a “faux stained glass” feature in your home! There is no need to frame the painting. The silk is tough; the Chinese used to use it for armour, after all! Care of the piece is simple. Creases can be removed with a steam iron on the silk setting (be sure that the signature is backwards on the ironing board), and it can be cleaned in cold water with gentle cleanser and laid flat to dry.
