I started selling online in 2010 after designing and building large and small furniture pieces from the bottom up and recycled pieces. I also did store displays and windows for many years. I wanted a creative outlet to sell my assemblage art and smaller pieces so I opened up CastawaysHall & The Sea of ODD. I’ve always tried create things that are different from everyone else. I love anything that has to do with the ocean, beach, seashells, island style oddities, or turquoise in colour so I knew what my store theme was going to be right away. One of my favourite things to do is to take something old and making it into something new. Taking odd, unusual objects and bits and pieces of hardware and assembling them into a work of art. You can see that in my Sea of ODD creatures in my shop and the sander paintings that I do on old doors and wood. I usually have about 10 different projects on the go at once and my work tables are alway in chaos, but I realize that I work best in a mess. That will probably never change. My work is always evolving so check back often to find some new.
